Now that you have made this decision, you must look at what steps are required in order to fulfil your dreams.
Firstly, you need to secure the services of a suitable Marriage Celebrant. I hope that by visiting my website, you have already made that choice, however, in order to make sure you have made the right choice, it is important for us to have an obligation free meeting to discuss your plans in more detail. This meeting can be held in my home or at a place suitable to you.
I can talk you through the process and discuss the various elements which you would like to have included in your ceremony. If, at the end of that meeting you do decide to secure my services, we can then proceed to discuss the legal requirements and the lodgement of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).
What to bring to your first Meeting :
• Write down any questions you may have (or feel free to email them to me in advance if you wish)
• Your documents, ie. Birth Certificate (Passport showing the date and place of birth for anyone born outside of Australia if unable to obtain a Birth Certificate); Divorce Papers (Decree Absolute or Certificate of Nullity required if previously married); Death Certificate (if widow/er); These are required by law and are necessary for filling out the Notice of Intended Marriage documentation.
• What your expectations are for your ceremony – do you have any special requests?
• A Deposit : If you are happy with me officiating at your ceremony, a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 would need to be paid before the Notice of Intended Marriage can be completed.
Once it has been determined that you wish to secure my services, I will provide you with a booklet which will have various ceremony options for you to take away and consider for writing your vows or the type of ceremony you wish to have, or you may wish to write your own.
